BICYCLES Road

I had this frame custom built by Bernie Mikkelsen in 1987 as part of a pro-deal through Cal Cycling, and then raced it through the early 1990s. For a small frame (52cm C-C), the frame has a very long top tube (56.5cm) and a very slack seat angle (72.5º) – so it rides over bumps like a Cadillac, but due to the steep head angle (74º) the steering is quick if not a little twitchy. I am quite attached to this bike since I had quite a bit of racing success on this bike – it was my faithful workhorse. Also, like many full-time racing bikes, it suffered more than a few accidents – some major ones. The downtube, left seat stay, and fork have been replaced (steel is real!) – and it has been repainted twice.
